Our story
Where we came from, how we’re growing
Soundwich started as an idea during a drive from Vail, Colorado, to Denver in a wonderful car that was being let down by a loud, unusually noisy and harsh engine. Being the inventor that he was, Dan T. Moore used his knowledge of advanced materials and composites to develop a solution. He filed the company’s first patent in 1987 for the dampener he developed, which served as the inspiration for our one-of-a-kind name: it quieted noise, acting as a sound dampener, and was made of a sandwich of materials to form a multi-layer composite. Soundwich incorporated into its own company in 1988 and has been a Tier 1 supplier ever since. We filed patents for our first multi-layer, damped heat shield in 1992 (granted 1997).
Soundwich operates two facilities on the 70-acre Cleveland Industrial Innovation Center campus. The first, located at the Wayside Road entrance, is where the majority of metallic thermal management products are produced. The second plant, accessed via the St. Clair Avenue entrance, has a broad array of highly automated manufacturing cells enabling cost-effective processing of metal, fiber and polymer substrates into high-performing, lightweight thermal, acoustical and underbody shielding components. Soundwich also operates a sales office in Bingham Farms, Michigan.

Soundwich shipped its first parts in the aerospace market in 2024, expanding its manufacturing capabilities and making a new name for itself with quality and support.
